Leaking Exterior Pipe Repair in Clearwater, FL

A leaking exterior pipe at a Clearwater property required access through a brick wall. Lukas Plumbing & Leak Detection modified the affected piping with a new PVC section connected to the existing pipework. The new assembly also includes an apparent cleanout fitting, which remained accessible as the wall opening was partially patched.

The Story

Repairing a Leaking Pipe Behind an Exterior Brick Wall

1

An existing pipe running behind the exterior brick wall was leaking.

The Problem: A Leaking Exterior Pipe

Access through the brickwork exposed the affected pipe route, including a horizontal copper-colored section and a curved connection. Opening the wall made it possible to reach the plumbing where the modification was needed.
2

The photographs show a new PVC pipe assembly positioned within the opened section of the wall.

Modifying the Pipe Connection

A banded mechanical coupling connects the new PVC piping to the retained pipework on the right. This modification addressed the area of the reported leak while connecting the new section to the existing piping.
3

The PVC assembly includes an outward-facing, capped branch that appears to be a plumbing cleanout.

An Apparent Cleanout for Future Access

Cleanouts provide access to drainage piping for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. In this configuration, the fitting projects beyond the wall surface, keeping the apparent access point reachable instead of covering it with masonry.
4

Following the pipe modification, the photographs show mesh and foam around the opening, followed by cement patching.

Patching the Exterior Wall

The last photograph shows the capped fitting exposed through the patched area. Some surrounding brickwork remains unfinished.
The images document the new pipe configuration and partial wall restoration. A post-repair leak test was not included in the supplied information.
